Cocasset Software is a technology leadership and advisory practice based in Massachusetts. We provide interim and fractional engineering leadership, operating advisory, and technology due diligence. We help growth-stage companies and PE-backed portfolios scale their engineering organizations, leadership teams, and products.
The practice is led by Matt McDonald, Principal. Most recently he served as SVP of Engineering at Nasuni. There he grew engineering from 20 to 150+ people and revenue from $10M to $150M ARR. Nasuni was acquired by Vista Equity Partners for $1.2B in 2024.
He brings over 25 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, distributed systems, and engineering leadership. Earlier he held senior engineering roles at EMC and was an early engineer at Archivas, later acquired by Hitachi Data Systems. He holds 9 US patents in distributed systems and object storage and an MBA from Babson College.
